Important Notice Regarding the DFOL and OLC Courses
Effective January 1, 2026, CSI’s Derivatives Fundamentals and Options Licensing Course (DFOL) and Options Licensing Course (OLC) are generally no longer accepted as the required proficiency path for CIRO Investment Dealer approval. The DFOL or OLC may still be recognized in limited circumstances, such as where an individual is covered by CIRO’s transition provisions, is continuing in the same approved role under applicable grandfathering rules, or has received a discretionary exemption from CIRO. Because individual circumstances may vary, learners should confirm their specific requirements with the registration department at their firm before enrolling or relying on the DFOL or OLC for approval purposes. For most new candidates seeking derivatives approval, the CIRO Derivatives Exam is now the likely required path.
